Fluffy’s Favorite Holiday Traditions

As the holidays approach, many of us are planning and preparing for seasonal festivities. As it turns out, our feline pals have a few traditions of their own! Read on as a local Marin County, CA vet lists some of your kitty’s top seasonal activities.

Help With Giftwrapping

Kitties may really enjoy doing nothing most of the time, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t willing to earn their keep. Fluffy’s mousing services are no longer required in many places, so she’s started helping with housework instead. Your furry buddy may thoughtfully ‘assist’ as you are changing sheets, wrapping gifts, cooking, or decorating.

Attack The Tree

In the wild, trees offer kitties napping spots, vantage points, and nail-care stations, as well as shelter and safety. Fluffy will definitely take note of a tree popping up in her kingdom! You may need to do a bit of kittyproofing here. Hang most of the decorations on the top of the tree, and put just a few non-breakable ornaments on the bottom part.

Nap

No matter what day or season it is, Fluffy will remain dedicated to keeping up with her busy napping schedule. Get your drowsy pet a comfy new bed to curl up in!

Enjoy A Special Treat

As you’re enjoying some of those delicious seasonal meals, don’t forget to give your kitty something yummy. Fluffy may enjoy a can of plain tuna or chicken in water, or some shredded deli meat. You can also give her some cooked, unseasoned fish or poultry, without the bones, skin, or fat.

Investigate Boxes

Once everyone has finished opening their gifts, give your feline buddy some empty boxes to play in. Don’t forget to snap a photo of this adorable moment!

Fur Everything

If you have a cat, your feline companion has probably left her share of fur on your clothes and furniture. Fluffy is very diligent about this, and may even try to leave some fur on guests’ coats, if she can reach them.

Be Adorable

Kitties are often the purrfect touch that turns houses into homes. No true holiday scene is complete without Fluffy! Pay lots of attention to your furball, and enjoy some quiet cuddle time with her.

Happy Holidays from all of us here at Redwood Pet Clinic, your Marin County, CA vet clinic. Please feel free to contact us if ever we can be of assistance.
